22'' x 28'' Limited Edition Print on Heavyweight Fine-Art Archival Paper

Artist: Dean Chamberlain

This portrait of Albert Hofmann, the discoverer of LSD, comes from Dean Chamberlain’s limited edition Psychedelic Pioneers light painting series. This portrait was made in 1997 at Hofmann's home in Switzerland and is signed by Hofmann and Chamberlain.

Chamberlain’s images are created entirely in the camera, with no computer manipulation. His light painting technique involves working with his camera and subject in completely dark spaces. Using extremely long exposures in sessions that often extend to four or five hours, he moves through the composition space with a flashlight and colored gels illuminating each individual element. More than photographing a moment, Chamberlain paints with light through time and space. Chamberlain considers this portrait of Hofmann to be one of his best creations.

This edition of prints was created to help fund MAPS-sponsored LSD and psilocybin research as well as to commemorate Albert's 100th birthday in 2006. Fifty percent of the profits from the sale of these prints go towards this research.

We have previously sold 50 smaller versions of these beautiful archival pigment prints. The prints were 11" x 14" and sold between $1000 and $2000. We are only offering 25 large versions of the print.

Albert Hofmann's signature on a single sheet of blotter acid art has sold at an auction for $3000. The purchasers of these prints will own a unique relic of a man who forever has changed humankind’s path.
